Jobs
Volunteer Recipe Blogger (x2)
We are looking for a volunteer blogger or two who would like to gain great experience working from home with friendly people, while sharing their recipes!
Requirements
- You need to know how to cook. That's obvious. But you have to be able to share recipes that make people want to drop what they are doing and run to the store for ingredients.
- Take great photos. Some of our original photos are not up to par, but from now on the photos need to be great. You can make a recipe sound amazing, but if you can't take a photo to back up that writing, then it becomes kind of pointless. We prefer a digital DSLR.
- Put your thoughts and recipes into a clear and concise article. We want you to be able to share a paragraph or so about your recipe, why you like it, which presidents you have cooked it for, how many times it took to get it right. It's important to connect with visitors.
- Quality over quantity. We aren't looking for someone to make some toast, take a quick photo, and post it every day. Nor do we expect you to make thanksgiving dinner multiple times a month and post that. Rather, we want you to post a recipe that people will actually want to cook, and we want you to take your time on it. We are looking for 3-6 entries a month.
- You need to know copyright laws. We aren't looking for someone to post every recipe out of their favorite book, we want your spin on those recipes. Try and make it your own, even if that involves changing 1 ingredient. But you also need to know that if you decide to post a recipe from a book or website, that you need to post where you got it from, who wrote it, etc. We won't have time to babysit you.
- You have to be a fun person to work with. We both run a couple sites, chat on AIM, even play games on XBOX Live, yet we live on complete opposite sides of the US. So being someone that we can call a friend is a huge part of our decision to hire you onto our team.
- If you are familiar with Joomla that will help, but its not a full requirement. We just require you know how to work in a CMS or Blog.
- Finally, realizing that this is a volunteer job, but still giving it 100%. We can't pay you right now. In fact if you count what it takes to build a site like this, and the time it took us to do it on our own, we would be considered way in to the red. We hope in the future to grow this site to where we can pay an employee or 2, but for now all revenues made through advertising are going to server and hosting costs. We do this for free, as well, right now because we enjoy it!
If this sounds like something you want to do, please send an email with 2 or 3 of your favorite recipes you like to cook, and some photos to jobsATmanvskitchenDOTcom (we have the AT and DOT in there to avoid spam. Simply replace it with the proper characters). TIP: It would be like sending in extra credit if your email was in the form of one of the articles you would perhaps write some day.
