Roman Style Chicken
Want a meal fit for the Romans? Then give this a try. I originally found this recipe online crafted by Giada De Laurentiis and decided to change it up just a little bit to better suit my needs. It has meat, peppers, bacon, onions, olive oil... What's not to like? Definitely a mans meal!
Beef Tamales
What happens when you leave two guys at home with nothing to do? Let's hope nothing dangerous! In my case, we made Beef Tamales. Let me rephrase that, a shit load of Beef Tamales. Not including the shopping we did the day before, my friend Shahay and I spent 15 consecutive hours in the kitchen making these delicious Beef Tamales. I do admit that between the cooking times we played a few games of Modern Warfare 2, so it wasn't all work and no fun. Best of all I had the opportunity to prove to my wife, who doubted my ability, that even a noob like myself can make awesome Beef Tamales. I knew it was sweet victory when she ate her words after taking her first bite and admitting the Tamales rocked.
Man Burger with Chipotle Mayonnaise
The Man Burger idea came from watching Alton Brown cook up his mini man burgers in Good Eats. Sliders are great for appetizers but what you really need is a full size man burger. We took Alton's creation and super-sized it and made it for real men. Topping it off with a little chipotle mayo helps bring out the spicy flavor that brings every man to tears.
Rhode Island Style Chili Dog
You can't be a fan of Man vs Kitchen and not be a fan of Guy Fieri. After making a trip to Costco and purchasing a large pack of Nathan hot dogs I was craving some chili to top them off. Canned chili would have been a simple solution, but that's not how we do it at Man vs Kitchen. I needed to find a good recipe. So that is what I did, found Guy's recipe and add a little zing. If you like chili without the beans, then give this a shot. It's simple and delicious.
Beer Brats
Ahhhh beer brats, a couple beers, and a baseball game.... doesn't get any better! And on the upside, this is ridiculously easy to make. If you can operate the stove and grill you will do just fine. And just so we are clear; when I say brat, I am talking bratwurst here, not the neighbor's kid.
Chipotle BBQ Chicken
Man food extraordinaire! BBQ chicken has a place in every mans heart. This recipe takes it one step further by adding chipotle peppers in the mix. Make your Chipotle BBQ Chicken as spicy as you'd like by adding more/less chipotle peppers to your BBQ sauce. How manly are you?
This dish goes great paired with our Spicy Jalapeno and Chipotle Coleslaw and Peppery Parmesan Potato Wedges.
Spicy Smoked Mozzarella Meatballs and Spaghetti
The worlds largest meatball weighed 222.5 lbs. That may be one hell of a challenge to eat for any man, but I assure you it won't taste as good as this spicy smoked mozzarella meatball. If your craving some Italian this mouth watering meatball is one that you should eat. If you end up with leftovers you can toss the meatballs in Italian rolls and cover them with the marinara to make a delicious meatball sub.
Be sure to try this with the Tomato and Basil Bruschetta.
Pan Seared Filet Mignon
A favorite of mine. Start off with a quality filet cut. Season with salt, pepper and garlic. Heat a cast iron skillet on high using 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Sear each side of the meat for 1 minute. Remove from heat and place skillet in a heated oven 400* Bake for 5-6 minutesĀ . Remove from oven and let stand for 5 min. Serve with a baked potato. Enjoy.
Buffalo Inspired Chicken Sandwich
Chicken wings with lots of hot sauce. Nothing is more of a man food than that. So why not make a sandwich out of it? What follows below is exactly that. A slab of chicken cooked and smothered in mouth watering hot sauce, dropped on to some french bread with mayo, lettuce, and avocado. Now that's hot.
Puffy Tacos with Tomatillo-Avocado Salsa
The Puffy Taco recipe is one of my favorite finds. I noticed this recipe after watching an episode of Throwdown with Bobby Flay (he's the man!). It's a delicious slow baked chicken that has been pulled and smothered and cooked in an amazing red sauce, combined with a home made puffy corn taco shell, and topped off with an avocado tomatillo salsa and some cheese. What could possibly be better? And although your friends may have never heard of Puffy Tacos before, they won't soon forget how good they taste!
